_Description:_ Stata is a commercial statistical analysis software package distributed and maintained by StataCorp that can be used for both script- and GUI-based statistical analysis. StataCorp's official packages or libraries can be supplemented by a robust ecosystem of user-written scripts called _SSC_ (the Boston College Statistical Software Components archive) hosted by [RePEC](http://repec.org) (the Research Papers in Economics website). [StataList](http://www.statalist.org/) provides peer and official support in a message-board format; the official [Stata Journal](http://www.stata-journal.com/) is a quarterly publication that features peer-reviewed articles on "statistics, data analysis, teaching methods, and effective use of Stata's language."
