Array.prototype.reduce()、または単に reduce() は、JavaScript のすべての配列操作の中で最も一般的なものです。 reduce メソッドを使用すると、ほぼすべての配列処理の問題を解決できます。

reduce メソッドでは、より一般的な形式の配列処理が可能であり、filter および map の両方が reduce の特別な応用として導かれることを示すことができます。 reduce メソッドは、配列内の各アイテムを反復処理し、単一の値 (文字列、数値、オブジェクト、配列など) を返します。これは、各反復で呼び出されるコールバック関数によって実現されます。

コールバック関数は 4 つの引数を受け取ります。最初の引数はアキュムレーターと呼ばれ、前の反復からのコールバック関数の戻り値が割り当てられます。2 つ目は現在処理されている要素で、3 つ目はその要素のインデックス、そして 4つ目は reduce が呼び出された対象の配列です。

コールバック関数に加えて、reduce にはアキュムレーターの初期値を受け取る追加のパラメーターがあります。この 2 番目のパラメーターが使用されていない場合、1 回目の反復はスキップされ、2 回目の反復がアキュムレーターとして配列の最初の要素に渡されます。

users 配列で reduce を使用してすべてのユーザーの年齢の合計を返す例を次に示します。簡単のため、この例では最初と 2 つ目の引数のみを使用しています。
